Both Adobe Connect -- formerly called Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro -- and Citrix's GoToWebinar provide platforms for hosting online conferences and meetings. In many respects, both services work similarly, offering streaming video to participants who can ask questions and reply to surveys. Notable differences between the products include subscription plans, the ability to host training sessions and the ability to join a conference without requiring downloaded software.
GoToWebinar Features
GoToWebinar supports conferences with up to 1,000 attendees and multiple presenters and organizers. Conferences can include HD video, shared computer control, on-screen drawing and audio via computer or telephone. People watching a conference can ask questions and respond to polls, and presenters receive reports detailing audience participation. GoToWebinar subscriptions also include the use of GoToMeeting, Citrix's small-scale collaboration tool for fewer than 100 simultaneous users.
Adobe Connect Features
Adobe Connect streams audio and video presentations to attendees who, as with GoToWebinar, can participate by asking questions and answering polls. Connect provides real-time audience engagement information and can link to Twitter to allow attendees to follow related events occurring live. Adobe Connect can both record materials in advance for later streaming and record live streams for later review and distribution. Adobe also promotes Connect's ability to work directly in Web browsers, so participants don't need to download any new software.
Subscription Pricing
As of January 2014, both products require a paid subscription. Citrix sells GoToWebinar subscriptions at costs that vary by how many organizers and attendees you have. For a single organizer, costs range from $99 monthly for up to 100 attendees to $499 a month for up to 1,000 attendees, with a 20 percent discount available for annual subscriptions. Adobe does not sell Connect subscriptions for enterprise use directly on its website; instead, offering customized annual subscriptions through consultation. Individuals, however, can host meetings with up to 25 members for $55 a month, $120 a year or choose a pay-per-use plan.
Product Versatility
Citrix sells a range of separate services, such as GoToTraining for employee education, GoToWebcast for streaming video to up to 5,000 people and GoToMeeting for smaller collaborations. GoToWebinar includes the use of GoToMeeting, but all other products are sold separately. Adobe Connect, conversely, integrates three components, supporting Web meetings, webinars and training courses. If you need to host both webinars and training sessions, Adobe may work better for you than subscribing separately to both GoToWebinar and GoToTraining.

Adobe Connect Webinar Download
There is a simple way to save or capture all of the individual elements which comprise an Adobe Connect recording on the web. To do so, simply add the following to the end of the URL for the Adobe Connect recording you wish to save:
/output/filename.zip?download=zip
An example is show below:
Original URL: https://www.example.com/p10101010
Modified URL: https://www.example.com/p10101010/output/filename.zip?download=zip
After creating the modified URL simply browse to it (press the Enter key, press the 'Go' button, etc.), then choose a filename and a location to save the resulting .ZIP archive file. This archive will be populated with .FLV files for the audio/video elements and .XML files for the textual elements.
Please note that this method is not guaranteed to work on all Adobe Connect recordings. If it fails to work then you will most likely have to contact the organization who is hosting the recording to request a copy.

Hello there,
The video file(without sound) and the audio file is separated. How to combine them?
Thanks. - AnaheimKsuvi_Khor May 9, 2014 at 09:09pm
Lovely Boy - Sorry for the egregious delay in my response! For some reason I did not consider the possibility that someone might comment on this article.
There are a number of free and commercial products that can be used to merge audio files in to video files. Here at work one of our developers used Adobe Premiere to do so - but that is a rather expensive product. You should probably consider using one of the many free products out there, such as:

I hope this helps, and sorry again for the delayed response.

Here's my two cents worth... I have tried to merge the files from the downloaded AdobeConnect files with several video editor, including the ones mentioned here, but the results are very difficult to work with. However, I have used Windows Media Player Classic to play both files at the same time, and it work perfectly. I do not have to spend time merging the files and I have complete control over pause and play ops.

Hey all,
I have created a java tool for that very perpous. We can automatically save any number off meeting to any location in mp4 or other format. We just need to pass adobe connect username to our tool. - Pimientochrisyoung7 Jul 5, 2015 at 11:50pm
@harenderbhardwaj, can you share your code? (and/or can I contribute to your project?)
- JalapenoDavid Altmayer Jul 24, 2015 at 03:15pm
I'd be interested in that code, too, @ harenderbhardwaj Is it available?

Duuuuuuuudddddeeee, You just opened a whole new world for me!!!
How do you learn stuff like that? I have always wondered why your computer can download a video to watch 'streaming,' but somehow you can't grab that download and keep it . . . ?
Well, you just introduced me to a new idea. There are codes that one can input into the address bar to direct a browser to do something with incoming videos.
BTW, everyone, this didn't work for me directly as explained.
What I had to do to make it work was to delete the address up to the point where the video is referenced, the point after the video in the address bar goes something like this:
http: . . . 336/p3uavtl8coh/?launcher=false&fcsContent=true&pbMode=normalYou see, all of that address portion after the 'p3uavtl8coh' is coding to tell the browser how to handle the incoming video.
Like this:
http: . . . 336/p3uavtl8coh/output/filename.zip?download=zipThe 'p3uavtl8coh' is where the video itself is referenced.
So, I simply deleted the code up to the point where the video was referenced, and replaced it with the coding provided by Ksuvi_Khor
I've taken an HTML course, 1 semester, and they didn't teach me about these address bar codes.
I'm going to be looking for things like this a lot from now on when I hit something I can't obtain online that my computer is clearly downloading. I'm sure that this kind of coding can be blocked by an application such as Adobe_Connect, but hopefully they don't go about trying to do so.

networker1I tried it. It doesn't do any better in syncing up the volume to the video than any other player does. I first tried with VLC because VLC has the option of linking a video and sound file and playing them together. But the synchronicity is the same as with the option you listed.
I've even tried FFMPEG to combine them and it seems like the lack of synchronicity is similar. I'm thinking the synchronicity problem might be from Adobe itself. We probably need to manually shift the sound until it is in sync with the video. I'm not sure how to do that, but it can probably be done with video editors, and maybe even FFMPEG, but I don't know.
